  • BIO | Rebekahmanibog

I AM REBEKAH. Rebekah Manibog is a young journalist, based in Western Sydney, who aims to contribute to the ever-evolving landscape of Australian media. Growing up in Sydney realest suburb, a.k.a Mount Druitt, Rebekah recognised that her area was mostly misrepresented in the media and being born into a Filipino family, she also noticed the lack of diversity in Australian media. One of her first memories of Australian news and storytelling was staying up and watching Lee Lin Chin report. Ever since then, she has determined to be a part of that world. In year 5, Rebekah attended Good Shepherd Primary where she began an emailing service called "MSN News". Here she would write daily emails with playground goss, stories and other child-dish shenanigans that have happened in the day. Since that moment, she knew she had to make storytelling her career. Rebekah aims to utilise her platform as segways for hard conversations as well as a megaphone for voices that may be lost in the world's noise. Rebekah attended the University of Western Sydney to pursue a bachelor of communications, with a major in journalism and sub-major in creative writing. In 2020, she graduated whilst completing an internship at the publication, Next Media, for Total Girl Magazine and the Special Broadcast Service (SBS). During her time at UWS, Rebekah also worked as an editor and contributor at W'SUP Magazine, the university's student publication and also was a finalist in the video competition "When Koala Meets Panda", hosted by the People's Daily China. This allowed her to visit the school of communications at Xiamen University and collaborate with students in order to create a video entry. Right now, Rebekah is the Junior Writer for Total Girl Magazine. She also is a Digital Producer and Journalist for Backchat on FBi Radio - a show for news and politics for youth - and hosts an afternoon music show, The Snacc Pacc with Del and Bek, every Saturday from 2-3 pm on FBi Radio 94.5FM. The Snacc Pacc focuses on talent and creativity in Western Sydney.
